It was a day of joy for Fernandez Hospital and one of great achievement for the Fourth Batch of Midwives as they graduated from the Professional Midwifery Education & Training (PMET) Course at the Convocation Ceremony at the LJF Block on 13th September 2017. The midwives passed out on finishing one year of internship after completing the qualifying exam for the two-year course.
The convocation was conducted by Dr. Evita Fernandez who addressed the group on the importance of the PMET programme. Earlier, she welcomed the Seventh Batch of nurses into the Midwifery Programme. She gave a brief overview of the objectives of the programme before inducting the new students.
UK Consultant Midwife Ms. Inderjeet Kaur then presented the new batch with their syllabus study kits including the Myles Text Book for Midwives. She then led them in the Midwives Prayer and the taking of the Midwives Pledge. She addressed the freshers with words of encouragement as she wished them a great learning experience. Also present was Consultant Dr. Rajitha Reddy, the PMET Course Coordinator.
Dr. S. Padmaja, Joint Director, Maternal Health & Nutrition, Telangana presented the newly qualified Midwives with their Certificate of Graduation.
It was truly an evening of encouragement as the inductees listened raptly to their newly qualified peers who took to the podium one by one and shared what they learnt over the duration of the course and how the training impacted their professional careers. The evening ended with an interaction between doctors and nurses over High Tea.
